HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT

Grant Associates provides the assessment, job preparation, counseling, placement, training and post-employment services necessary for people to succeed on the job, advance, and earn more money over their lifetimes.

Job Preparation and Job Placement. Every year, Grant Associates places over 6,000 individuals in a range of high-growth industries. Our job preparation services are based on up-to-date sector intelligence and discussions with individual companies on the knowledge and skills they require. We assess and screen people using the same tools used by our business clients. We then prepare them, even those with the most challenging obstacles, for real world business demands through coaching, personal development and a focus on continuously gaining knowledge to “get ahead.” Companies from all industries recruit at our program sites, including such giants as UPS, Con Edison, Jet Blue and Capital One Bank.

Knowledge Building. Grant Associates offers a continuum of learning opportunities for people before and after they are employed. Our workshops for professional development, resume building, interviewing skills and computer skills, as well as our ESL and GED instruction, are all contextualized to the work setting. In addition, we offer sector-based workshops led by industry experts, access to occupational skills through leading educational institutions, and formal learning activities at the workplace. To accommodate people’s family and work responsibilities, we make learning accessible by offering multiple scheduling options and distance learning opportunities.

Business Partnerships. We effectively engage businesses because they have the most to gain from a well-trained workforce. Our business partners help us provide services that are relevant and they look to us as a primary source of qualified candidates. We work with businesses to create "learning cultures" that encourage employees to continually build their knowledge even while they are employed. In addition, companies can take advantage of our no-cost Business Services, which include professional development training, financing for occupational skills training, and activities to promote employee advancement and retention.

Addressing Obstacles to Employment. Grant Associates has a proven track record of helping people overcome issues that could stand in the way of their employment and learning goals. Our counselors connect people to public work supports and community partners that can provide supportive services. We offer workshops on financial planning, healthy lifestyles, safety and security, and family support.

Special Populations. We also provide case management services for people with more intensive barriers. Using our business-based model, we achieve extraordinary outcomes for people with physical and mental disabilities and substance abuse and criminal justice histories, as well as disconnected youth, sanctioned welfare recipients and people whose first language is not English. Under a special populations contract, for example, we placed 2,500 people with substance abuse or criminal histories into employment.
