INNOVATIONS

We’ve built up a vast amount of experience over the last decade but we are always trying new approaches in order to achieve better results for our clients. Here are just some of the innovations we bring to our work:

Sector Strategies. In 2008, Grant Associates was selected to operate New York City’s first-ever Sector-Based Career Center, dedicated to serving the needs of businesses and workers in the city’s transportation sector. The sector approach allows us to serve businesses knowledgably, build their confidence and engage them as active partners. Most importantly, it allows us to give people timely career guidance, build their industry knowledge and skills and give them access to relevant jobs.
Professional Development Training. Businesses have consistently told us that their first line managers lack the skills to keep employees focused and productive. To address this challenge, we offer supervisory courses through funding from our own contracts or training grants. We also deliver professional development workshops for staff on such topics as team building, time management, leadership or communications skills.
Continuous Learning and Career Advancement. Because people need to continuously update their skills if they want to hold onto their jobs or advance, Grant Associates developed a continuous learning model for all of our programs. We teach our customers on the very first day that increased knowledge leads to increased earnings and we reinforce this idea through all of our services. Businesses are a key part of this model and we work with them to develop continuous learning opportunities for employees after they’re hired.
Assessments. To better screen candidates for private sector employers, we test our customers’ skills with the same tools that businesses use themselves. This approach has been so successful that it is being implemented throughout New York City’s workforce system.
Distance Learning. Grant Associates introduced distance learning to New York City’s One-Stop System to meet the needs of people whose work or family responsibilities prevent them from participating in conventional training and education programs. Our customers can now pursue online training, become certified, and even receive support from remote career advisors.
Holistic Approach. People who are healthy with financial security and family support at home make for more reliable, more productive employees on the job. Reflecting a holistic approach to human capital development, Grant Associates offers workshops on managing personal finances, living a healthy lifestyle, and engaging families in career planning.
